JARING Communications has declared that it is commencing the Telephony Service over Internet Protocol (TSoIP) service that they were developing with Celcom. The service is the first of its kind in Malaysia and enables subscribers of both providers to make and receive calls from a computer, a special TSoIP phone or a normal landline-based phone that is connected to a special broadband phone adapter.

JARING MY105 subscribers will get a phone line and a phone number with a prefix of 0154. The service can be used on different communication devices, ranging from mobile phones, phone software on PCs or laptops and even IP phones. The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (SKMM) has allocated a 0154 81X XXXX numbering block to JARING, allowing the company to give out numbers to 100,000 customers and more with additional blocks. The service is based on a non-geographic numbering system, so subscribers can call each other at rates that are independent of distance.
