Mobile Operators creates a blast at GoMobile Expo 2008

There were promotions and galore at GoMobile 2008 with three of the telcos, Maxis, Celcom and U Mobile, going out in full force to promote their various products and services.

Maxis, the Pinnacle Sponsor of GoMobile 2008, was showcasing most of its latest service including Internet Browsing, Music, Games, Maxis Broadband and the new Dell Mini 9 package. Visitor who sign up for the Maxis services walked away with free iPod Shuffles, Maxis Black Thumbdrive and many other interesting merchandises that were only offered in GoMobile 2008.

Although not having a commercial Mobile Live TV service, U Mobile was seen showcasing this new service in its booth. A “Content Zone” offered U Mobile subscribers to download mobile content on their phones while visitors who signed up for the U98 postpaid plan walked away with a free Samsung mobile phone. A mobile phone called U Mobile Sou was also available at the U Mobile booth. Visitors could buy this phone for as low as RM500 if they signed up for a U Mobile postpaid plan.

Celcom and Blue Cube shared the same booth in GoMobile Expo 2008 and were showcasing a new USB modem called the Blue Cube H02 was offered to visitors at the price of RM499. Visitors who bought this USB modem and subscribed to Celcom Broadband could buy an i-Mobile phone for RM80 only. Visitors could also sign up for Celcom Power Tools and Celcom Postpaid or buy the Celcom U.O.X/S.O.X prepaid starter packs.

On the other hand Digi’s DSS Dealer Emtex Communication was seen offering DiGi’s latest postpaid plans. Visitors could also buy EDGE modems from various brands such as from Huawei at RM299.

The telcos were also promoting Mobile Number Portability that allowed users to change operator but keep their mobile number. Visitors who took part in the interesting activities by the telcos walked away with special merchandises.
