U Mobile announced that it is offering free calls and 1 sen per SMS within its U Mobile network. The announcement is a result from Mobile Number Portability or MNP which was announced a few days ago.

With this Free Call offering, U Mobile subscribers can get more friends, family members, and acquaintances to join U Mobile, and all of them will be able to fully enjoy the benefits of this offering,” said Oh Kwang-Jin, U Mobile Chief Executive Officer.
The promotion offer period starts from Oct 18 – Dec 31, 2008 and subscribers including those ported via MNP will continue to enjoy the benefits of this promotion until March 31, 2009. U Mobile prepaid subscribers can enjoy up to 60 minutes of free calls a day, while U38, U68 and U98 postpaid plan subscribers can enjoy a maximum of 30 hours of free calls per month.
In addition, U Mobile is also introducing new 3G handset bundles for its U38, U68, and U98 postpaid plans, where all new subscribers have the option to purchase a 3G handset from a range of models offered at very attractive prices.
In July this year, U Mobile claimed that it had over 100,000 subscribers.
