Kuala Lumpur, 5 June Nokia latest flagship- the N97 was finally saw the light of day amid high anticipation. The device has a large TFT 3.5 inch display with 16 million colours with a sliding full QWERT keyboard. It also has quad-band (850/900/1800/1900 MHz) connectivity, with 3.6Mpbs HSDPA.

The smartphone is multimedia orientated device, with Nokia touting social networking as the main focal point of the phone, with dedicated apps to Facebook, Friendster, MySpace and many others. Customisation allows the phone to be more personal experience, and web widgets allow quicker access to favourite programs.

The N97 also supports Nokia Ovi, where there are already 20,000 apps. Malaysia will receive the international portal, whereas Singapore will be one of the seven countries receiving their own Ovi Store. Nokia’s music portal Comes with Music is also absent for the N97.

Users can expect a 5 megapixel camera, with Carl zeiss optics. GPS and geotagging is also supported.

Nokia general manager for Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei Vlasta Berka didn’t give a definitive date for a Malaysian Ovi Store.

The N97 is available now in Malaysia and Singapore for RM 2,480 and SGD 1,028.
