XOX targets Chinese youths
THE latest player in the telecommunication space, XOX Com Sdn Bhd has launched its 010 prepaid packages that are tailored for the Chinese youth market.
As a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO), XOX doesn’t own spectrum or network infrastructure, and instead the company rents them from Celcom.
The company is leveraging on Celcom’s extensive network to offer full, reliable and affordable suite of mobile phone services to its subscribers, said Ng Kok Meng, XOX president.
The company said it will focus on contents such as Feng Shui, mobile games in Chinese and numerology.
XOX also plans to support Chinese community programmes such as charity events.
It offers competitive rates for its services to reach out to those in the age group of 13 to 28, which the company is targeting, said Ng.
The prepaid package charges are as low as 20sen per minute for calls and 7sen for each SMS. While 3G and GPRS data connection is priced at 10sen for every 10KB.
“We expect to get up to 200,000 activation by year end,” he said.
XOX prepaid starter pack costs RM8.80 and includes 1,200 free SMSes (within the same network) which is valid for a year, and RM5 airtime.
